Watercolor Workshop: Christmas Cards in November

Add a handmade touch to your holiday greetings in our Watercolor Workshop: Christmas Cards, featuring a softly painted evergreen tree with glowing lights, colorful splatters, and a dreamy winter background.

This beginner-friendly workshop introduces techniques for painting loose evergreen branches, blending soft background washes, creating the appearance of glowing lights, and adding playful splatters for a festive finishing touch. You’ll explore how to work with wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry techniques, preserve white space, and use simple brushstrokes to suggest the shape of a Christmas tree without painting every branch.

Paint along with me step by step as we create a soft winter background, build the evergreen tree in layers, and add sparkling details to bring the scene to life. You’ll leave with techniques for painting loose trees, creating soft atmospheric backgrounds, suggesting light and glow, and adapting these skills to handmade greeting cards and other holiday watercolor projects.
