Watercolor Workshop: Fall Mums

Celebrate the golden colors of autumn in our Watercolor Workshop: Fall Mums, featuring two cheerful chrysanthemums with layers of soft yellow petals and warm golden centers.

This beginner-friendly workshop introduces techniques for painting loose, layered flower petals, blending warm colors, building dimension with transparent washes, and creating natural-looking floral shapes without painting every petal individually. You’ll explore how to use variations in color and value to give the flowers depth while keeping the overall painting light and expressive.

Paint along with me step by step as we build each flower from its central shape outward, adding layers of petals, subtle shadows, and delicate stems. You’ll leave with techniques for painting full, layered flowers, controlling water and pigment, creating depth with overlapping shapes, and using loose brushstrokes to paint a variety of flowers in future watercolor projects.
