Watercolor Workshop: Watercolor Turkey

Bring a little color and personality to the Thanksgiving season in our Watercolor Workshop: Watercolor Turkey, featuring a whimsical turkey with a fan of colorful feathers in rich autumn shades of orange, gold, rust, and earthy green.

This beginner-friendly workshop introduces techniques for blending colors directly on the paper, creating texture with layered washes, painting expressive feather shapes, and adding simple details to bring an animal illustration to life. You’ll explore how to use warm and cool colors together, build dimension with transparent layers, and suggest feathers and texture without overworking the painting.

Paint along with me step by step as we create the colorful feather fan, build the turkey’s rounded body, and add the small details that give it character. You’ll leave with techniques for blending multiple colors, painting loose animal shapes, creating texture and dimension, and adding expressive details to future watercolor illustrations.
