Watercolor Workshop: Paint & Doodle Gingerbread Village

Create a whimsical holiday village in our Watercolor Workshop: Paint & Doodle Gingerbread Village, featuring a row of charming gingerbread houses decorated with playful white icing details beneath a starry winter sky.

This beginner-friendly workshop combines loose watercolor painting with simple doodling techniques to create a festive illustrated scene. You’ll explore how to paint textured gingerbread shapes, layer rich brown washes, create a moody winter background, and add decorative windows, rooftops, and icing-inspired patterns using simple lines and shapes. No drawing experience is needed.

Paint along with me step by step as we build the colorful background, paint the gingerbread houses, and add whimsical doodled details that give each building its own personality. You’ll leave with techniques for combining watercolor and linework, creating texture with layered washes, simplifying architectural shapes, and adding decorative patterns to future illustrated watercolor projects.
