What to expect with custom dog portraits:
- Once we receive your order for a custom dog portrait, we’ll send you an email requesting a favorite photo of your dog. Your photo should be clear, in-focus, and no larger than 20 mb. We accept jpg, png, and pdf files.
- Additional instructions will be provided in the email, and we’ll ask if there are any customizations you’d like on the painting, such as a bow or bow tie, a special collar, party hat, or sweater at that time.
- Once we receive your photo and custom requests, your painting will be scheduled and a timeline provided. When painting begins, we’ll send you updates along the way so you can see the progress.
Timeline and shipping:
- Dog portraits take about 12 to 14 days to complete, and the timeline is subject to change based on our schedule. If you need your dog portrait by a specific date, let us know and we’ll do our best to accommodate. We’ll always communicate an accurate timeline so you can plan ahead.
- Our $9 shipping fee is automatically upgraded to overnight delivery at no additional charge.
Edits:
- Unlike acrylic or oil paint, watercolor cannot be easily altered once it’s on paper due to its translucent nature. That’s why, after your pet’s portrait has been painted, we scan the artwork at an ultra-high resolution to allow for minor digital edits. Want your pup’s eyes looking up instead of down? We can do that. Reconsidering the color of that bandana? No problem! Want to enhance the texture of their fur? Let’s do it!
- However, to preserve the integrity and hand-painted charm of the original watercolor, edits must remain subtle. For example, we can adjust small details like expression, eye direction, colors, or accessories—but we can’t change the pose because of the layered quality of our watercolor style (e.g., seated to running or standing to laying down, etc.).
- Two rounds of minor edits are included with your portrait. Additional edits are available at a rate of $45 ea.
Rush orders:
- Due to the hand-painted nature of our watercolor art, rush orders are not offered.
Copyrights and license agreements:
- Your custom painting is for personal use only and may not be sold or licensed commercially for profit. You may, however, use the digital copy of your dog portrait for your personal holiday cards, mugs, t-shirts, etc. for your personal use.
- A Little Hello Co. retains the right to showcase custom artwork on social media, at live events, and in advertisements. Customer names/pet names are not used.
