What to expect with custom dog portraits:
-
Once we receive your order for a custom dog portrait, you’ll get a follow-up email with a link to a submission form where you can upload your favorite photo of your pup. Your photo should be clear, well-lit, and in focus—so we can capture every little detail that makes your dog them. We accept JPG, PNG, and PDF files up to 20 MB in size.
-
The form will also give you space to note any special requests, like a bow or bow tie, a favorite collar, party hat, or cozy sweater. We want your portrait to reflect your dog’s unique personality, so feel free to share what makes them special.
-
Once we receive your photo and customization notes, we’ll schedule your portrait and send you an estimated delivery date. As your artwork comes to life, you’ll receive thoughtful progress updates so you can follow along with the journey—from first brushstrokes to final details.
-
Prefer to talk through your vision? We’re happy to connect by phone or Zoom on a recorded line to make sure we capture every nuance. Just let us know!
Turnaround time and shipping:
-
Each custom dog portrait takes approximately 7 to 10 days to complete. During the busy holiday season, please allow a few extra days as we lovingly work through a higher volume of orders.
-
If you need your portrait by a specific date—whether it’s for a birthday, holiday, or special occasion—just let us know at checkout or by email. We’ll do everything we can to meet your timeline and will always communicate clearly about your estimated delivery date so you can plan with confidence.
-
To make things even smoother: our flat-rate $9 shipping fee is automatically upgraded to overnight delivery at no extra charge. It’s our way of saying thank you—and ensuring your portrait arrives safely and swiftly once it’s ready.
Edits:
-
Unlike acrylic or oil, watercolor is a luminous and delicate medium that can fade over time—especially when exposed to light. To preserve your portrait’s beauty for generations, we scan the finished painting at an ultra-high resolution and produce your final print using museum-quality giclée printing. This method captures every brushstroke in stunning detail and ensures rich, lasting color that won’t fade—so your custom artwork can be cherished for a lifetime and beyond.
-
This digital process also allows us to make light, personalized enhancements just for you. Want your dog’s eyes glancing upward instead of down? Prefer a different shade for that bandana? Thinking a little more texture in the fur would bring them to life? We can do that. These subtle refinements—similar to a photographer editing a favorite shot—help us fine-tune your portrait while honoring the charm and integrity of the original painting.
-
Because watercolor builds in translucent layers, edits must remain subtle. We can adjust expressions, eye direction, color, and small accessories—but cannot alter the overall pose (like seated to standing).
-
Each portrait includes two rounds of minor edits, with additional revisions available at $45 each.
Rush orders:
- Due to the hand-painted nature of our watercolor art, rush orders are not offered; 7 to 10 days is our quickest turnaround time for painting, plus added time for shipping.
Copyrights and personal use:
-
Your custom pet portrait is a one-of-a-kind work of art, created just for you. This artwork is for personal use only and may not be sold, reproduced for commercial purposes, or licensed for profit.

You’re welcome to use the high-resolution digital version for personal projects such as holiday cards, mugs, t-shirts, or other keepsakes—just not for resale or business use.

A Little Hello Co. retains the copyright to all original artwork and may showcase your pet’s portrait in our marketing materials, including social media, advertising, portfolio, and live events. Don’t worry—we never include customer names or identifying information without permission.

What if I don’t love it?
-
It’s incredibly rare—but in the unlikely event you’re not completely happy with your portrait, we’ll do everything we can to make it right.
- Two rounds of minor edits are included with every custom piece, and we’ll work closely with you to ensure your pet’s personality shines through. If after revisions you’re still unhappy, we’ll evaluate next steps on a case-by-case basis to ensure a thoughtful resolution. Your satisfaction matters deeply to us—because this isn’t just a painting. It’s a keepsake.
